My “Friday Finds” list this week is going to be giving off some serious island vibes. It’s been such a bright and sunny week for me in the Midwest – after the long winter we had, it feels like a vacation! This week, I tried to focus on some “fast fashion” finds – pieces that were good for the fashionista on a budget. The prices definitely are of a huge range ($3 to $75 to be exact), so hopefully I can help you find something to put you in a “sunshine state of mind” at any budget.
Xhilaration Satin Surplice Dress (link) – $29.99
I had to start with my favorite: I am in love with this dress. There’s something about the material and burgundy color that screams elegance. Am I wrong in thinking this looks way more expensive than it is? Because it is technically juniors sizing, I’m going to track it down in store to try on before buying… but I can’t see myself not purchasing this.
Studio One Grid Printed Sleeveless Maxi Dress (link) – $42.99
The geometric pattern of this dress is so fun. Most of the prints I usually gravitate towards are florals or something preppy & whimsical – this dress has a more mature vibe. It’s still casual enough to wear for a brunch or even a summer wedding, but I think it could definitely still be worn come fall for some dressier events.
U-Knit Dip Dye Maxi Dress with Crochet Waist (link) – $37.99
Lower your pitchforks! I know that the ombre trend was been done to death. What makes this item different is the extra details – the waist, the slit at the hem, the scoop neckline. I think this dress takes the ombre trend and updates it with the popular elements of summer 2017.
LeKate Floral Tie Neck Maxi Dress (link) – $47.99
If you liked the first dress I shared but want something a little more daring: take a look at this. The slit at the bottom, the cutout front, the tied neck… wow! It definitely adds some sassiness. I do love the navy color with these designs – it really makes the print pop
Pretty Robes Bridesmaid Graphic Tote (link) – $28
When I was planning my wedding two years ago, I remember searching everywhere for bridesmaid tote bags. I had six girls and wanted to get them nice sturdy totes to put their gifts in. Unfortunately, I didn’t find ones that I wanted (don’t feel too bad for my friends – they got Kate Spade clutches instead) but these would have been perfect! If you know of anyone planning a wedding, pass this along. Forever 21 prices are a dream come true for brides-to-be!
My mom has always had an obsession with flamingos. Growing up in our old house – I kid you not – we had a bathroom that was floor to ceiling flamingo-themed (I need to see if we have photos anywhere next time I go to my parents). This would be totally appropriate in Florida, or a Lilly Pulitzer boutique – which may explain my love of Lilly actually – but in Wisconsin? Hey, at least it made us feel tropical during the winter blizzards 😉
The fact that flamingos are a trend now makes me smile. If you have any vacations planned, the clear tote especially seems like a great pool tote! I’m also getting major Kate Spade vibes from the graphic tote.
Ribbon Pendant Necklace (link) – $2.90
Um, this necklace is $3. Three. Dollars. I cannot get over how adorable it is (again, major Kate Spade vibes – this seems to be the unofficial and accidental theme of this post). Now the quality might not be amazing – but for the price, it’s worth grabbing two just in case.
Beaded Chandelier Earrings (link) – $6.90
These statement earrings are gorgeous. I’ve always loved chandelier earrings and I think it would look so elegant with a long maxi dress. Again, don’t expect these to last forever, but if you have a wedding or dinner event in your future, these would pair nicely with any outfit.
HOOT Fur Sliders (link) – $32
Ever since Rihanna teamed up with PUMA to release her FENTY PUMA line, fur slides have been the rage. At first, I thought they seemed too 90s – like “Clueless” meets “I decided to wear my slippers to school” vibe. But I have to admit they’re growing on me. I’m not totally in love with the pink but these do look comfy enough that I’d consider it.
Floral Applique Sweatshirt (link) – $68
Orange is one of my favorite colors. I’m not quite sure why (those Hermes boxes perhaps?) but I love anything that has a wild boldness to it, which orange always seems to convey to me. This sweatshirt is absolutely something I would wear come fall. The appliques are definitely Gucci inspired. I just love the oversize fit of this, it looks like a sweatshirt you want to snuggle up in.
Wrap Lace Mini Skirt (link) – $75
This is the priciest item in this post. That being said, I think a lace skirt is worth spending more money on to prevent the material from fraying too fast. Both the color and the wrap design of this skirt are to die for. I really think it would be flattering on a lot of different body types. Mini skirts aren’t something I usually buy (as you read yesterday, I avoid wearing heels whenever possible and I’m not a huge fan of the mini skirts + flats combination on myself personally), but I think the silhouette is something that belongs in everyone’s closet.
Cutwork Broderie Shorts (link) – $50
Because I live in Wisconsin (aka the frozen tundra), I place more of an importance on jeans than shorts in my wardrobe. For the (too few) months that we get warm temperatures, I rely on the basics: dark denim shorts and a few printed pairs from Lilly Pulitzer and J. Crew. These would totally be out of my comfort zone… which is probably why I should buy them. It would look great paired with a silk tank or a casual cotton blouse.
Printed Leather Crossbody Bag (link) – $89.90, on sale for $49.99
This bag seems to be not-so-subtlely inspired by Stella McCartney. You can’t deny how fun the animal print is though. It’s totally edgy enough for a music festival or a night out on the town. Pair with a LBD (little black dress) for some major style!
Confession: I’m obsessed with pineapples. A close friend of ours from the South got me hooked a few years ago and now if it has a pineapple on it, I love it. While the heels are a little tall for me (the jeweled detail is gorgeous!), I have the crossbody bag waiting in my Zara online cart as we speak. It’s very Judith Leiber-like… I’d really love to roll up to a fancy event with this jeweled bag, only to have someone realize mid-conversation – “Wait, is that a pineapple bag?”
Leather High Heel Shoes with Tropical Print (link) – $89.90, on sale for $49.99
I promised you island vibes and if nothing else in this post delivered, these heels will. The palm print just screams “Bring me my sunglasses and a margarita!” In my experience, Zara uses good quality materials so I would imagine these are rather sturdy, despite the height. I absolutely think they would be adorable to wear on vacation – though really, vacation is a state of mind 😉
