5 Best Budget Beauty Products

When it comes to items you’re using on your face, as a general rule, I like to make sure they’re of the highest quality. That being said, I’ve found some products that work as well – or even better! – than their higher-price counterparts.

NYX Setting Spray (link) – $7.99

There’s a reason this spray is a cult favorite: it lasts. While I’ll splurge on Urban Decay’s All Nighter if there’s a good sale – this is my everyday go-to. It keeps your makeup on all day and doesn’t leave any sticky feeling (which makes me confident it’s not clogging pores). There are a few different versions of this spray, but I prefer the Matte version personally for the most “put together” look. Another benefit is this little bottle lasts quite a while… even if I use it every day, I can usually plan on getting a solid six weeks of product.

elf Makeup Brushes (link) – set of 11 for $30

What I love about elf makeup brushes is (besides the price point) the longevity. I’ve found them to hold up just as well in comparison to much more expensive brands. Additionally, I’ve never had an issue with shedding – though this might be because I store mine upright in a container, rather than stuffed in a makeup bag. The brand seems to offer very nice value sets – which you usually get at a discounted price using ULTA coupons – so it’s an affordable way to get all the necessary brushes.

Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil (link) – $2.49

This product will always be my hands-down favorite eyeliner. I went into ULTA a few weeks ago and saw the Essence display covered in “Clearance” stickers – if they discontinue this, I will be heartbroken! I usually buy a couple of these eyeliners (always in black) whenever I shop as a precaution. As someone that has tried just about every eyeliner on the market – with the exception of liquid… I hate liquid eyeliner with a passion – these pencils last longer than Urban Decay, Tarte, Stila, you name it. They don’t smudge much either if you happen to touch your eye. While I could easily write a novel proclaiming my love for the Essence brand, I’ll leave it at this: buy. this. now.

L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Primer (link) – $8.99

L’Oreal’s Voluminous Lash Primer is the only primer I’ve found that seems to compliment even the flakiest, most “spider eyes inducing” mascaras. Now, fortunately, I’ve discovered the magic of Dior’s Diorshow mascara but I still love using this primer underneath to really make my eyes pop. The white color of the formula is nice too to make sure you evenly coat your lashes.

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter (link) – $6.00

While contouring is something that I have a love-hate relationship with, a nice highlighter is a necessity in my book. Makeup Revolution’s Vivid Baked Highlighters give really beautiful pigment, without being too “whoa, you’re blinding me there.” The product seems to last and is applied easily enough. I personally love Matte Lights for a natural look but have been tempted to try out some of the other shades for a fun night out.

    1. I’ve tried countless brands and ended up grabbing the L’Oreal one on a whim one day – I have no idea WHY it works so well but it’s my Holy Grail mascara primer. The fact it’s only $9 (though usually cheaper with sales and ULTA coupons) is a huge bonus!
